Should I use ready-to-use cold wax strips, a hot wax roller and strips, hot wax without strips, or sugaring with strips?

Don't worry, we're here to help you find the right product without unnecessary doubts.

If this is your first time waxing, or you generally feel that you don't have enough experience yet and want ultimate ease, ready-to-use Wax Strips are the simplest solution. They don't require preparation or heating, which makes them very safe for home use, but because there's no heat to relax your pores, the hair, if not applied correctly, can break and not come out with the root. Before applying, you need to rub the strips well between your palms to warm the wax slightly, allowing them to work better. Also, when you place the strip on the area you're waxing, press it down firmly, and before pulling it off – always against the direction of hair growth – make sure to hold the skin taut with your other hand. Generally, ready-to-use strips are ideal for touch-ups, but if you want that truly smooth salon-like result, you'll need to try something different.

If you have large areas to wax, such as entire legs or arms, roll-on or hot wax solutions are fantastic for home use.

For waxing with a Hellenia Roll-on, you will need the Hellenia Wax Heater, a device that plugs in and keeps the wax at a stable, safe temperature. The roll-on head ensures that you will apply a thin and even layer of wax every time. With this method, you will use Hellenia Wax Strips, and because the wax is warm, it softens the hair follicle, making the process much more effective and significantly less painful than the cold version. It's the ideal choice for amateurs because it's difficult to make a big mess with a roll-on, and the process is very fast.

Now, if you plan to deal with more sensitive areas or curved spots, such as the bikini line, armpits, or face, you should definitely look into Hellenia Elements hot wax, available in pearl form ("Hypoallergenic Wax Drops") or Hellenia Depilatory Wax in the small metal container. These waxes are used without strips. With the help of a spatula (usually wooden), you apply the wax in a thick layer, always in the direction of hair growth, wait a few seconds for it to harden and become plastic-like, and then, lift a small edge with your finger or spatula, hold the skin taut with one hand, and pull the wax itself with the other. The beauty of this method is that it "hugs" only the hair and doesn't actually stick to the skin, which is a lifesaver when you want to avoid irritation in sensitive areas. Of course, it requires a little more practice with the wrist movement for pulling, and you need to be very careful with the temperature to avoid burns, but for coarse hair and sensitive skin, it is the top choice.

Finally, there's also the option of Hellenia Oriental Hot Wax, which is sugar wax in a jar with a delightful Bubblegum scent, and is used with strips for home use. Sugar waxing is a beloved and traditional method for many. The biggest advantage for someone doing it themselves? It's water-soluble. If you accidentally get some on your bathroom mat or change your mind halfway through and want to stop, you can literally rinse it off with lukewarm water; no special cleaning oils are needed. It's extremely gentle and ideal for people who get those intense red bumps, though it can become a bit tricky to use if your bathroom has a lot of humidity.

Also, you don't need any additional device for heating the wax, as you can put the Hellenia jar in the microwave. Be careful not to overdo it and boil it, turning it into water. It's better to try with short times, gradually, until it has the consistency of a thin paste. The secret is to see the wax stand on the spatula and not run like water. Otherwise, the application is done in thin layers with a spatula, and then applying a Depilatory Strip on top of the wax, which you pull off in the familiar way we mentioned above.

If you want our suggestion, it's to start with a roll-on for your legs to learn the movement and perhaps have some hard pearl wax for the tricky spots once you get the hang of it!
